ProfileChief Counsel The candidate manages and handles complex government and regulatory enforcement actions and internal investigations across all lines of business, including the retail and corporate banks, the asset management group, and the retail and institutional broker dealers. Supports the AML/BSA and Enterprise Compliance functions, as well as provides day-to-day advice to the lines of business. Expertise handling government and regulatory enforcement actions that involve civil and criminal inquiries directed at large corporations operating in highly regulated industries. Assists in protecting an organization's rights, obligations and privileges and its legal interests by providing legal direction to organization and by ensuring the legal activities meet the current and future needs of the organization. Provides legal advice and support as manager of a team of lawyers on matters in a business, business segment or specialized area of concentration by identifying and managing legal risk for the organization. Oversees legal work product of other attorneys and paralegals. Identifies issues and develops legal strategies and goals in line with the legal department's and company's objectives. Develops talent by creating engaged, inclusive and diverse teams who are empowered to speak freely and act with integrity. Recognizes the need for, takes personal accountability to adapt, and leads others through organizational change. Creates a compelling vision of the future and translates it into action, linking others' contributions to the success of the firm. Assesses and effectively manages all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure activities are in alignment with the bank's and unit's risk appetite and risk management framework. Should have experience interacting with management of a complex business. General knowledge of financial services law, including, particularly rules, regulations, and practices of the CFPB, SEC, FINRA, and OCC is preferred. Experience as a federal prosecutor and knowledge of AML/BSA strongly preferred. Should have knowledge of practices, behaviors, applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing proper business conduct; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations. Must have understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately, and reach productive decisions.
