Associate Counsel Duties and Responsibilities:Manage a variety of litigation files related to construction disputes, property management claims, real estate transactions and other complex legal matters. You will be responsible for handling your own docket and managing your caseload from inception through completion, Provide legal support to Onni’s US construction teams throughout the lifecycle of Onni’s projects including, but not limited to, negotiating and drafting construction contracts, managing claims such as payment disputes, preparing notices of default and termination, and advising on a variety of “day-to-day” matters such as Mechanics Liens and warranty issues, Work with external counsel on files as necessary, Work collaboratively with the COO and other members of the Onni legal team members on corporate projects and other initiatives, Communicate with internal & external stakeholders and provide status reports, and Additional duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school, Licensed to practice law in California. Admitted in Arizona, Washington State and/or Illinois are a plus, Possesses experience litigating all types of construction disputes, including delay and disruption claims, payment disputes such as Mechanics Liens, bond, and stop payment notices, and construction defect litigation, 2-3 years of litigation experience, At least 1 year of construction or real estate experience, Trial experience is desired, Superior analytical skills, Strong written and oral communication skills,The ideal candidate must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and to work independently and effectively under time pressure and deadlines, and legal project management experience is helpful.
