Assistant General Counsel – Transactional Attorney / Multifamily Real The candidate will support General Counsel on transactional and general corporate legal matters as well as serve as liaison to business units on questions relating to Multifamily real estate law (including title and survey)/servicing. Draft, review and negotiate various types of legal documents and commercial contracts, including financing arrangements, vendor agreements, professional services contracts, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Provide support to loan origination, underwriting, and servicing teams on matters relating to multifamily real estate law (including title and survey) and servicing. Provide support to General Counsel on corporate governance matters, including resolutions and other Board materials. Provide Legal support on aspects of company policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance. Provide support to HR on aspects of employee relations, including preparing executive employment letters. Provide support in managing the Company’s lending and servicing licensing regime.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a Juris Doctoral degree from an accredited school of law and 3-4 years of experience in either general corporate (governance, HR, licensing, contracts) or commercial/multifamily real estate law. Law firm experience preferred. Experience with state lending and servicing licensing regimes is a plus. Must be comfortable with seeking direction where necessary but also work independently where appropriate. Should have excellent interpersonal skills, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate in writing and verbally effectively.
