Lancaster office of our client seeks an attorney preferably with 3-5 years of legal experience. The candidate will advise the School Board, Superintendent, Executive Leadership Team, and other district staff regarding legal issues related to the Constitution, students' rights, education, employment, civil rights, real estate, local government, procurement, contracts, tort law, and applicable state and federal laws. Will interpret federal, state, and local laws, render legal opinions, and provide legal advice in the drafting of legal documents, policies, rules and regulations, resolutions, applications, and other legal or quasi-legal documents. Provide technical legal expertise, information, and assistance in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure legal compliance. Advise the School Board and Superintendent of unusual trends and novel issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Advise the school board regarding federal and state legislation of interest to the school system and coordinate with the executive leadership team and other staff to develop and revise policies and regulations that promote the interests of the school system. Represent and advise the school board and superintendent in administrative hearings and before fact-finding panels and other entities. Conduct legal research, gather evidence, prepare pleadings and legal briefs as necessary to defend or initiate legal action. Appear before federal, state, and local courts, and before legislative bodies to present the district's position on issues pending before those entities. Attend and provide legal advice at regular meetings of the School Board and such other meetings as the School Board or Superintendent directs. Perform related duties, as assigned or needed. Experience working with school districts and other educational entities is required.
