Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will handle incoming calls for the attorneys. Will organize all medical records, bills and lien information obtained. Communicate with clients, doctors, experts and all other callers daily. Draft daily legal correspondence and documents required by the attorneys. Draft all notices of intent and pleadings including Complaints, summonses, responsive motions, service documents, etc. Review all discovery received for completeness. Calendar all discovery due dates for interrogatories, request to produce, request for admission and Orders sent and received. Draft all answers and responses to all discovery due and any Court Orders. Scheduling all depositions, mediations, hearings, trials, conferences, etc. Prepare, file and coordinate the noticing of all motions for the attorneys. Prepare all cases for mediation, including mediation orders and mediation statements and perform all necessary mediation preparation including reviewing all medical records, bills and liens contacting all providers for outstanding bill balances. Prepare Witness and Exhibit list, draft Pretrial Statements, trial prep, prepare and update trial docket schedule, subpoena witnesses, notify lay and expert witness of trial dates and any changes, prepare trial exhibits. Must have 5- 10 years of experience in a legal firm (Plaintiff or Defense) specializing in personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse or insurance defense. In addition, the qualified candidate shall have the following additional qualifications: Professional dress and demeanor; Excellent computer skills, efficient online database research skills (Westlaw etc.). Exceptional research, writing and communication skills are needed. Understanding of calendaring deadlines for legal statutes and all discovery is needed. Prior experience with Client Profiles, Aderant, Trial Works or a similar case management systems is a plus.
