Director Public Affairs Latin America Duties: Shape the Health Care Policy environment in Latin America to business benefit, by positioning as a key partner in the region, by building strong local and regional stakeholder relationships and by designing and implementing regional and local strategies that would address Novartis business priorities. Shape a regional PA strategy and agenda across the divisions that effectively contributes to business success. Support country organizations (COs) and CECs to formalize and implement local PA strategies. Deliver analysis and guidance on key political trends to regional management. Identify policy opportunities and threats timely and devise policy positions , engagement plans and execute. Position as a thought leader and key partner to governments in the region. Build and manage key external relationships on a regional/international level. Conduct/participate in high level meetings with external stakeholders. Represent region in international trade association activities and support/manage local trade association participation. Build PA and issue competency in the markets – training, workshops, guidance. Manage regional input to monthly and other Basel reporting requests. Briefing of senior management on country and regional issues. Represent the region within the International Public Affairs Group in Basel.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, Advance degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Sciences or Business. 5-10 years working experience in a GA-related, business or non-governmental organization setting with significant international exposure. Proven English and Spanish writing and communication skills. Pharma experience. Ability to manage and prioritize complex issues according to the impact to Novartis’ business. Capabilities as a leader of a team working in a multi-national environment. Knowledge of political dynamics in APAC and in other key areas e.g. Europe, USA, Japan. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Ability to network effectively both internally and externally. Personal relationships with external opinion leaders and government bodies. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
