Associate General Counsel
The candidate will provide legal support on a variety of issues involving providers in the Medicaid and CHIP network including payment methodologies, regulatory requirements, performance - based compensation arrangements, provider administrative guides, fraud, waste and abuse, utilization management. Will provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks and privileges of the organization. Protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation. Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of these business units within firm's Group so as to best advise senior business leaders as they develop strategy and pursue enterprise goals. Provide a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one of more areas such as contracts law, benefits law, transactional work, regulatory and compliance, insurance law, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial law. Draft and negotiate provider agreements, including value - based contracting, incentive programs, payment appendices, and regulatory appendices. Advise business clients regarding interpretation of provider agreement provisions, provider disputes, and provider terminations. Research and advise business clients regarding applicable Medicaid laws, regulations and guidance related to provider networks.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Juris doctorate. Must have 5+ years of professional legal experience . Must have knowledge of U.S. and state contract law. Must have experience drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts and explaining legal risks to business clients. Must have demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Corporate health care and / or regulatory law is preferred. Proven success in collaborating across a large, matrixed business and legal environment is preferred. Strong understanding of health insurance and / or managed care industry is preferred. Experience with regulatory agencies and administrative experience with state insurance regulations is preferred. Understanding of health care benefit coverage is preferred.
