American LegalNet is seeking several Litigation Review Attorneys who are tech-savvy and who have outstanding communication skills, to join this dynamic mezzanine company and help take ALN to the next level – preeminent in the law firm support industry.


Litigation Review Attorney

The Litigation Review Attorney will be hired on a contract to permanent basis, and is responsible for performing the tasks associated with an internal project to audit several hundred litigation rule sets in the American LegalNet court rules database; performing quality control to ensure the accuracy and completeness of rule sets; discussing differences of interpretation of rules and their implementation, and keeping an audit trail history of all court rules maintenance activities. 

The Litigation Review Attorney conducts legal research to determine the proper methods for interpreting, creating, and applying court rules (e.g. FRCP, CCP, local rules, rule updates, etc.) to calendar events and calculate deadlines. 

The Litigation Review Attorney will work within the LegalKey software to investigate the implementation of deadlines, including confirming calculations, handling of deadlines around non-court days, complicated litigation schedules such as those around trials, discovery periods, and similar.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Criteria

The Litigation Review Attorney will work on a team to audit, in detail, statutes in each jurisdiction and the resulting deadlines pertaining to litigation of all types and scope. The Attorney will provide recommendations on improvements to calculations, the way deadlines are written for clarity and accuracy, and the arrangement of deadlines in regards to each other.

The specific job functions associated with this position include:

  • Checking court websites for updates;
  • Recommending updates to the court rule sets based on posted updates;
  • Recommending new court rules based upon priority as determined by Court Rules Manager;
  • Maintaining documentation of all rule sets audited, according to a checklist, as well as recommendations over time.
  • J.D. degree from ABA-accredited law school, with valid bar license in at least one state;
  • Minimum of one year of litigation experience required;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, strong logic skills, legal research and writing skills, and mid-level computer skills;
  • Bankruptcy, probate, and/or family law experience a plus!
  • Please be comfortable learning new software.
  • Note: All applicants will be required to successfully complete a practical attorney exercise in order to be considered for this position.
