Real Estate Attorney The candidate will provide a broad range of legal support to Conn’s Real Estate and Construction team to help achieve the company’s strategic growth plans in markets across the United States. Will primarily be responsible for preparing, negotiating and managing real estate and corporate contracts such as big box leases, purchase and sale agreements, and other related legal matters. Responsible for timely preparation, drafting, negotiation of contracts and legal documents including leases, lease modifications, amendments, SNDAs, estoppels, waivers, defaults and demands, purchase agreements, surveys, title surveys and other commercial real estate related legal documents. Update and maintain calendar of critical contract and transaction dates and circulates lists, dates, and deadlines to the Real Estate and Construction team and other project personnel. Assist in resolving issues and conflicts through each transaction’s lifecycle by working closely with corporate leadership and other personnel. Provide general legal advice and counsel regarding real estate development issues, including design and construction matters, ADA compliance, insurance, tax and environmental liability issues. Serve as the point person in the management and processing of all real estate legal documents through management approval and full execution. Develop and implement new internal legal procedures and processes. Manage outside counsel on complex matters. Other assignments, as dictated by business needs including business projects and matters outside of the Real Estate department and into various other legal tasks and functions, as needed. JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school and a member in good standing of the Texas State Bar is needed. Should have 6+ years of relevant real estate experience with a law firm or corporate legal department. Extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of commercial real estate with an emphasis on big box legal transactions; additional experience with industrial facilities would be a plus. Strong negotiation, analytic, problem solving and critical thinking skills are needed. Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate complex situations in easily understood terms are needed. Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products, primarily Word. Experience with lease administration, legal and project management software would be a plus.
