Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be supporting two attorneys who need to be able to rely on and trust to help run the office with another employee when they are not there, deal with clients, courts, and defense counsel, and take care of whatever needs to be taken care of. Strong emphasis on drafting court-ready state and federal motions and filings quickly and with attention to detail. Able to draft requests and responses to discovery; motions, pleadings, demands and correspondence. Maintain the litigation calendar flawlessly: to include discovery deadlines, hearings, appointments. Maintain daily organization of a high volume docket. Able to draft requests and responses to discovery; motions, pleadings, demands and correspondence - work with clients to complete discovery. E-file state and federal pleadings and motions. Document, organize, and prepare a file for trial. Deal professionally with clients. Maintain office file cloud system; and able to scan, fax, email.
The candidate should have Associates degree or higher; Paralegal certification strongly preferred -- if don'thave the paralegal certificate but have the same length of time of practical experience doing the same job responsibilities in a plaintiffs' law firm without the actual job title will review on a case by case basis. Must have 5 years of litigation experience as a paralegal in a law firm- majority of time in a plaintiffs' firm. Should have experience with federal and state e-filing. Experience with MAC/Apple computers is preferred. Experience with cloud-based client management software is a plus. Must have experience calculating and calendaring deadlines via interpretation of local state and federal rules. Should have excellent communication skills and positive attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word is required.
