Real Estate Transactional Legal Assistant/Paralegal Candidate will support two attorneys in transactional commercial real estate and business practice. Will include: New loan intake and set-up. Review multifamily housing loan applications and loan approval forms for accuracy. Assist attorneys with due diligence review for loan closings, including fact verification and title documents. Draft loan documents (Note, Mortgage, Loan Agreement, Guaranty, etc.) and escrow instructions. Assist with the loan closing process and coordinate with escrow agents, lenders, and borrowers’ legal counsel, including: communicating the timelines and status of each loan transaction, preparing transmittal packages, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of document execution and delivery. Complete the post-closing document delivery process for each loan, including review of recorded loan documents and final title policies, and preparation and delivery of final closing packages to the lender. Develop and maintain closing and due diligence checklists, and update our internal tracking system and files. Assisting in phone coverage and other administrative/office duties as required.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Four-year college degree and paralegal certificate preferred. 2+ years of commercial mortgage loan closing experience or work with a commercial real estate legal practice. Experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loan programs a plus. Knowledge of commercial real estate loan closing process, documentation, and due diligence requirements. Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple transactions at the same time. Attention to detail and accuracy when performing verification of due diligence items and document drafting. Flexibility to handle unique issues that arise in a particular transaction along with the ability to do repetitive tasks required in all transactions. Effective oral and written skills for one-on-one communication. Computer skills - strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat (PDF files), and Web navigation. TABS skills a plus. Fast learner - willing to pick up and do any task. Ability to operate independently and responsibly with limited instruction. Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain a high standard of attendance. Positive attitude and blend well with our small law firm. A sense of humor is a must.
