Lead Counsel, Privacy
The candidate will manage and advise on global privacy program, including developing and improving privacy frameworks and processes to ensure obligations under the program. Support product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on new and existing products and features. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and protection laws and advise the impact of the same on business. Support members of the Legal, Partnerships, Policy and Privacy teams on privacy and security-related legal matters, including in areas related to product development, partnerships, integrations, and other business development opportunities. Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, legal developments and industry proposals involving privacy and security across services and companies. Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with stakeholders across the business including Policy, Legal, Communications, Security, and other departments. Develop a regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives. Support privacy for commercial deals and work cross-functionally on all deal-related matters for affiliates.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US State Bar. Should have 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience. Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines. Experience with litigation, regulatory, or product counseling. Technical or engineering experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience in privacy and data issues arising in one or more private areas such as data sharing, security, advertising, products or privacy program implementation/management is preferred. Commercial deal experience is preferred. Experience using business judgment and with client counseling is preferred. Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment are preferred.
