A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Biotechnology IP Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting biotechnology patent applications. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, or life sciences, possess superior academic credentials, and demonstrate strong skills in writing, interpersonal communication, and patent prosecution.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute biotechnology patent applications across diverse areas such as biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and life sciences.
  • Conduct rigorous patentability assessments, prior art searches, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Provide strategic intellectual property advice and counsel to clients in the biotechnology industry.
  • Collaborate closely with inventors, scientists, and technical experts to comprehend inventions and draft detailed patent specifications.
  • Assist clients in managing patent portfolios, including advising on patent strategy, enforcement, and licensing agreements.
  • Represent clients in biotechnology patent disputes and litigation matters when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (. preferred) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, or Life Sciences.
  • 2-6 years of experience specifically in drafting and prosecuting biotechnology patent applications.
  • Admission to at least one State Bar (District of Columbia Bar preferred) and ideally registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Outstanding academic credentials with a proven academic record.
  • Experience conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Proficiency in drafting complex patent applications and legal documents.

Education and Certifications:
