ProfileBrand Paralegal The candidate will support the Brand use, protection and enforcement activities of the Association. Will provide direct support to the Deputy General Counsel, Brand; Assistant General Counsel, Brand; and the Associate General Counsel, Brand. Assist in domestic and international trademark prosecution and enforcement work, including (1) reviewing trademark watch reports, investigating potential infringements, preparing draft correspondence and settlement agreements, communicating with Plans concerning enforcement matters, and preparing and filing enforcement-related documents in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; (2) provide back-up support in the management of the trademark prosecution docket, including preparing and filing documents in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and corresponding and coordinating with foreign associates and to ensure timely filings in foreign trademark offices; and (3) conducting trademark scans for proposed new marks developed by the Plans and the Association and for third party marks to support enforcement activities. Assist Brand Counsel in reviewing Plan and Association materials for proper Brand usage in accordance with the Brand Regulations, License Agreements and sound trademark practices, including conducting the annual Brand Use Review of Plan materials, providing advice on proper application of the Brand Regulations, and working directly with Plans in identifying and resolving compliance matters. Assist with misuse of the Brands and enforcement of the Brand Regulations including (1) investigating potential Brand misuse matters, preparing draft correspondence and settlement agreements, communicating with Plans concerning misuse matters. Assist in additional Brand-related projects and responsibilities as assigned. Must have 5+ years experience as a trademark, corporate or litigation paralegal, or equivalent work experience. Should preferably have Paralegal certificate and Bachelor degree. Should have experience conducting due diligence in a law firm or corporate environment. Knowledge docketing systems is required. Knowledge of trademark searching platforms is needed. Microsoft Word, Excel and Access including data entry and retrieval and online searches and investigations (e.g. Nexus, D&B) is must.
