Litigation Counsel The candidate will assist with litigation matters for the Space business area, focusing primarily on employment and commercial litigation. Should have four years of litigation experience with meaningful exposure to both commercial and employment litigation. Should have extensive motion and discovery drafting experience, a demonstrated record of strategic case strategy and efficient dispute resolution, experience analyzing and responding to third-party subpoenas, and recognizing and promoting settlement opportunities when appropriate. Trial and mediation experience are helpful. Will have day-to-day management of outside counsel and a caseload involving interesting and varied legal issues and entails substantial internal counseling intended to mitigate litigation risk. The substance of cases will vary from torts to business disputes, including government, commercial, and intellectual property. Familiarity with allowability determinations in the government contracting context and class actions is desirable. The candidate must be willing and able to go to court, take and defend depositions, and write persuasive motions, responses and briefs when necessary. This role will also prepare responses to EEOC and state employment agency charges and claims. Travel for case-related events, sometimes on short notice, is required. The ideal candidate will have a meaningful and diverse background in some or all of the following: commercial defense experience at a top-tier law firm or boutique; U.S. government customer experience; in-house experience within the aerospace or other highly regulated industry. Strong organizational, analytical, writing and verbal skills and high emotional intelligence are key. Should have U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain security clearance. Should have J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Should be a member in good standing of a state bar. Minimum of four years of relevant work experience with the U.S. government, a nationally recognized law firm, or a corporation in a highly-regulated industry. Should have strong business acumen and strategic decision-making skills. Experience with dispute resolution and litigation. Experience in the aerospace or security industry. Experience with a U.S. government customer.
