A law firm seeks an experienced mid-level to senior associate attorney with 4-8 years of legal experience, specializing in labor and employment law. This opportunity offers the chance to represent employees in various legal matters, including discrimination, whistleblowing, and employment disputes. The position is based in Washington, DC, and offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for both remote and in-office work.

Duties

  • Represent employees in employment-related legal matters, including discrimination and whistleblowing cases.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, MSPB, and OSC.
  • Handle cases involving employee discipline, internal investigations, and demand letters.
  • Lead all aspects of case management, from developing claims and interviewing clients to drafting pleadings and conducting discovery.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, negotiations, court appearances, and trials/hearings.
  • Maintain regular, direct client communication and provide expert legal advice.
  • Perform in-depth legal research and draft persuasive legal documents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and receive mentoring and feedback on assignments.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in employment and labor law or related fields.
  • Prior litigation experience in administrative agencies, courts, or with arbitrators is highly preferred.
  • Experience with labor organizations or other employment-related legal work is an advantage.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and research skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to manage a diverse caseload and work independently as well as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility for admission without examination.
  • Admission to the Virginia and/or Maryland Bar is a plus.
