Paralegal Duties: Prepare and file pleadings and other documents required in the estate administration process. Prepare and file income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns. Find and secure probate and non-probate assets. Prepare an inventory listing of the assets beginning with the date of death. Prepare accounting from the date of death through the closing of the estate/trust process. Advise on decedents’ final bill payments. Assist with the sale of estate property. Transfer assets into the name of the state, trust, or beneficiaries. Prepare, review, analyze & organize documents for corporate transactions. Prepare, review, analyze & organize documents in connection with the formation and ongoing maintenance and governance of corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships and business trusts. Assist with handling a wide range of corporate matters, such as mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions. Work closely with attorneys and clients on a wide range of other matters.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A paralegal certificate or 4-year college degree preferred. 3-5 years of previous estate/trust administration experience preferred Experience with general corporate matters, entity maintenance responsibilities, mergers and acquisitions and other business a plus. Energetic, organized, detail-orientated and disciplined, with the willingness to work hard. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, through effective communication and organizational strategies. Ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines and other time constraints, with competing and shifting priorities. Knowledge of and commitment to the utilization of technology. Ability to bill 1550 hours, annually, to meet the firm’s billing expectations for paralegals. Strong project management skills.
