This role is focused on providing comprehensive legal counsel on proactive and reactive privacy and data protection compliance matters, including advising on data security incidents and related regulatory investigations. The ideal candidate will possess 3-6 years of relevant experience, including advising on privacy and security obligations, data security incident notification, and defending regulatory investigations.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on privacy and security obligations, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and international data security laws.
  • Handle data security incidents, including advising on incident response strategies, notification obligations, and mitigation efforts.
  • Represent clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and security matters.
  • Provide counsel on contractual and legal obligations concerning data security and privacy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address and resolve complex data protection issues.
  • Prepare and deliver effective, persuasive written and oral communications, including legal opinions, briefs, and reports.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and anticipating potential issues.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, data privacy trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and present training sessions on privacy and cybersecurity issues to clients and internal teams.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, focusing on advising on privacy and security obligations and handling data security incidents.
  • Experience with regulatory investigations related to privacy and security is preferred.
  • Law firm or in-house experience with privacy and cybersecurity breach response or related litigation is highly desirable.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
