Director, Senior Corporate Counsel - Privacy The candidate will manage the Privacy Operations function with the Privacy Office and provide legal counsel related to the activities and responsibilities of Privacy Operations at DaVita. Privacy Operations is responsible for: Policy & procedures drafting, review and counsel Training & awareness program Creation & maintenance of job aids Support of all corporate functions except human resources and IT Privacy notice program – including website privacy Privacy governance committees Data use review and approval program Privacy risk assessments and audit readiness Support of all the smaller business (called SBIs – Strategic Business Initiatives) Patient education New privacy regulation implementation (like CCPA) Metrics & reporting Process improvement. Reports to the Chief Privacy Officer. Manages Privacy Operations Team. Ensures work is being performed with service excellence and continuous improvement at the forefront. Leads Privacy Operations projects. Works with other lawyers to coordinate legal advice. Serves as a thought and innovation partner to SBIs and corporate functions as they implement new initiatives. Works closely with Privacy Legal to receive or coordinate legal guidance needed to operationalize important initiatives and requirements.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business, technology or healthcare field. Law degree and an active license is required. At least 6 years of experience in privacy is required. Experience in health care is desired. Experience in cybersecurity or a security certification is desired. Team management experience is desired. Compliance, audit or assessment experience is desired. Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated attention to detail is needed. Solid technology skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is needed. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentations) and the ability to drive execution in a team environment.
