Position Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing and directing the Firm’s high-volume, Consumer Litigation department.  The Director of Consumer Litigation directly supervises multiple  attorneys that are licensed and practicing in multiple jurisdictions.  The position has responsibilities for directing the litigation strategies for high volume consumer debt dockets as well as optimizing business results.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Responsible for overseeing a multi-jurisdictional team of attorneys.

  • Oversees docket management and assists in setting negotiation and litigation strategies for all attorneys. 
  • Assist in setting the annual departmental budget. 
  • Attorney recruitment for open positions as well as directing efforts toward retention and performance reviews for existing personnel.
  • Determining meaningful productivity and business metrics for the department, and overseeing reports on those metrics.
  • Leading the department’s efforts systemize work flows and assure provision of efficient and consistent services to clients.
  • Monitor quality of services and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical requirements in the different jurisdictions in which the firm operates.
  • Effectively collaborating with Firm leadership to work toward solutions to business problems.
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture where client interests are served and all employees are respected.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice in good standing in at least one State.  Licensed in multiple States preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including five years of experience managing a large legal team in a high-volume environment.
  • Previous experience in Consumer Debt is preferred.
  • Knowledge preferred in bankruptcy, consumer regulations (TSR, FDCPA, FCRA, CFPB regulation), and consumer litigation.
  • Must pass background check

Supervisory Responsibilities

 This position supervises all litigation attorneys.  

  Work Environment

 This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, etc. 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands to type or handle paperwork.  Will be required walk between office locations multiple times per day. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

There is some flexibility when selecting a start time, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of the selected schedule and is expected to work a 40 hour week.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
