Deputy City Prosecutor The candidate will provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Will perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Analyze and negotiate plea offers with defense attorneys on continuing District Court cases. Analyze and negotiate plea offers with pro se defendants with regard to current cases in District Court. Analyze and negotiate plea offers with defense attorneys on cases set in the Washington County Circuit Court. Analyze and negotiation plea offers with pro se defendants with regard to cases set in the Washington County Circuit Court. Prosecute on behalf of the State of Arkansas and the City for trials set in the Washington County Circuit Court and District Court. Review and make charging decisions on cases referred by Code Compliance, Building Safety and Animal Control Services as well as intakes performed by the City Prosecutor's Office. Case management of all pending cases in the City Prosecutor's office. Answer questions from the general public regarding criminal law, procedure for making complaints, and determining proper venue for resolutions of disputes. Communicate with Victims and Witnesses. Perform legal research and draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, legal briefs, and court orders. Investigate citizen complaints as well as current criminal cases through the issuance of Prosecutors subpoenas. Should have a J.D. degree or equivalent. Must have 2 years of litigation experience and a valid Arkansas Law license.
