Profile

Policy Analyst/Legislative Counsel Duties: Supports the development and implementation of program goals and metrics to achieve strategic objectives. Supports setting priorities, developing timelines, and ensuring completion of timely high quality deliverables. Collaborates with other staff and coordinates in order to cultivate and maintain relationships and partnerships with healthcare industry stakeholders, regulatory agencies, allied organizations, academic policy experts, and other non-governmental stakeholders to leverage areas of common interest and achieve program goals. Monitors and reports on industry and government activity with potential impact on state and national programs. Conducts research and analysis to aid in the identification of opportunities and threats that impact existing initiatives and policies. Supports the legal advocacy and policy department in the development of policy and project proposals. Researches end of life issues in order to support the development of fact sheets and policy positions including topics related to diversity, equity, and in exclusivity in end of life care. Supports the advancement of national policy internally and externally by assisting in the preparation of advocacy and educational materials such as toolkits, brochures, talking points, press releases, op-eds, and social media posts such as tweets and coordinates the development of template social media products. Assists in the identification and management of policy opportunities to increase influence amongst thought leaders and experts. Represents and speaks on behalf of at professional healthcare organizations, task forces, councils and committees about the national programs, as needed.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher (i.e. public policy or related field preferred). JD Degree strongly preferred or Master’s degree in public policy or a related field preferred. Active bar license. 7+ years of professional work experience in legal research and analysis, advocacy, or public policy. Advanced degree may substitute for work experience. Superb skills in policy and program analysis. Superb skills in persuasive and technical communication, written and oral. Demonstrated skills in policy writing. Demonstrated skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for a common goal. Subject matter expertise around end-of-life healthcare, and contacts and relationships in the end-of-life healthcare world preferred. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of related software(e.g., Google Cloud; Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Internet research and legislative tracking tools; spreadsheet; word processing, and database familiarity).
