ProfileParalegal The candidate assists in the administration and provision of legal support services to attorneys in the form of legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and file preparation for trial. Evaluates routine legal research and compiles data from various reference sources. Assists in the research of statutes, regulations, and court decisions. Prepares summaries of findings and provides recommendations on legal matters as well as resolutions to legal questions. Responds and Propounds to Written Discovery. Assists attorneys in the prosecution, defense and resolution of lawsuits. Assists in the coordination of pre-trial proceedings and discovery activities. Assists in the coordination and preparation of experts and other witnesses to ensure proper case development. May arrange and administer any interviews and additional pre-trial and trial activities. Drafts routine dispositions, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, orders, and briefs. Compiles and assists in the analysis of records and data for discovery and drafts recommendations and correspondence to clients, claims, attorneys and customers with regard to discovery and legal matters. Reviews office files and responds to routine correspondence. Assists attorneys in file management and case progression activities.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have certification in paralegal studies with 3+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or other related area is preferred. Proven knowledge in the operations, practices and procedures of civil litigation is essential. Must have proven knowledge in filing procedures of relevant courts and administrative agencies. Must have a demonstrated knowledge in legal research and disposition motion practices as well as appellate procedures. Must have strong analytical, research, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Windows-based applications, Time Matters and internet usage.
