Regulatory Legal Counsel
Duties: Develop regulatory and compliance strategy. Provide legal and regulatory advice to the Liberty Power organization on contracts, terms and conditions, scripts, training, third party verification requirements, and other regulatory, contract or other legal issues. Prepare, review, edit varied forms of contracts and provide advice and guidance on contract related issues Guide strategy on regulatory or legal proceedings and execution. Partner, when needed, with outside counsel in connection with casework. Provide input on selection of outside counsel, when needed. Manage contract, compliance, and quality assurance teams. Drive projects needed to ensure timely and complete compliance with changing regulations, in partnership with broader organization.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Law degree and 10+ years of legal experience in the retail energy regulatory area. Law firm, corporate, or governmental law department experience is required. MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. High standards of professional and personal integrity. Proven ability to effectively influence internal and external people and organizations. Effectively interpret and communicate legal and commercial issues to business people. Proven ability to organize and maintain information and documents. Strong ability to problem solve and gather required information, internally and externally. Proven ability to collaborate with and drive changes through commercial and operational teams to meet both commercial and compliance objectives. Proven ability to draft and structure commercial and mass market-facing contracts. Ability to work well with team members at all levels and in a dynamic business environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Problem analysis and resolution. Strategic thinker with ability to help drive corporate strategies in legal/regulatory/commercial areas. Experience with corporate governance issues and corporate secretarial duties. Strong knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses.
