Legal Assistant The candidate will provide administrative and substantive support to general counsel, director of legal affairs, and staff attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA). Will draft memos and other documents for attorney review. Contact and follow through with various county court offices for documents related to teacher licensing matters. Assigned research and writing projects for attorneys within OLA. Manage all contracts for OLA, and other departments as needed. Provide support and coordinate meetings for all OLA staff. Maintain OLA calendars and public email boxes. Order supplies and approve invoices for OLA department. Maintain and report office equipment issues. Respond to inquiries from internal and external constituents. Advise Department staff on various issues. Coordinate responses to requests made pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act. Provide support for state and federal programs with federal and state regulations. Participate in attorney staff meetings. Cross-train with Public Records Officer and provide back-up or support functions to the Public Records Officer.. Provides administrative and substantive support to other commissions created by statute and chaired or staffed by other staff or attorneys. Provide support to other divisions as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should have experience working by tight deadlines under pressure, producing quality recommendations supported by factual findings and conclusions. Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Access is essential. Experience in law or regulatory affairs is preferred.
