Housing Staff Attorney The candidate will provide civil legal representation in housing-related matters for low income litigants who remain unrepresented and when the other party has an attorney. Will carry a personal caseload litigating unlawful detainer cases which includes: client interviews; drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and correspondence; negotiating with outside parties; representing clients in court and conducting trials. Provide legal counsel, advice, and representation to low-income individuals regarding evictions and related matters; Act as a resource regarding unlawful detainer cases and other housing issues. Must be an active member of the California State Bar of California or member of the Bar of another state and willing to take the California Bar at the next available opportunity with thorough knowledge and experience in housing. Must have excellent analytical, organizational and writing skills; strong oral and written communication skills; strong litigation skills in California courts; public interest advocacy; high degree of initiative. Bilingual capacity in Spanish is strongly preferred. Must have 2+ years of experience.
