Litigation Paralegal
The candidate will assist in managing litigation files from beginning to end. Prepare medical chronologies and assists in analyzing medical-legal issues. Manage document procurement process, identifies medical and employment records to be obtained, prepares subpoenas or other requests for records and information. Organize medical records and other documents. Contact healthcare providers to obtain and follow-up on medical/legal documents on litigated matters. Coordinate discovery with physicians, corporate representatives and outside counsel (when involved) for all facilities. Assist in identifying and retaining expert witnesses. Assist in managing litigation files and documents and coordinating attorney communication. Support team members providing patient and legal support as needed. Other duties as assigned. Execute all duties in accordance with our CHOICE values. Treat others with unconditional respect, dignity and equality. Acknowledge a need or concern by pausing from task. Customize approach when meeting with customers (i.e. sitting down at bedside when communicating with a patient). Anticipate the needs of others by providing support and assistance before being asked. Associate Degree or Bachelor of Arts is needed. Should have 5+ years of experience in legal or insurance industry. Should have 5-10 years of paralegal experience working on litigated cases. Working in medical malpractice litigation is needed. Working in personal injury law firm or insurance litigation is essential. Experience in medical malpractice, complex litigation, personal injury, insurance is needed. Experience with medical terminology and preparation of medical chronologies is required. Proficient in e-filing, scheduling and handling depositions, ordering medical records are essential. Proficient in written communication is needed. Client/Patient service is paramount is essential. Must be detail oriented, highly organized, excellent multi-tasking skills and a team player is essential.
