Director of Practice Support Duties: Works with attorneys, paralegals, the Chief Information and Risk Officer, the firm’s other Directors, support staff, and others to develop, implement and sustain firm-wide Practice Support services, processes, and systems. Firm’s services, process, and systems for e-discovery in litigation and for investigations and regulatory inquiries. Establish and maintain communication and information sharing with firm leadership. In partnership with the Information Services department, coordinates projects for proposed software and hardware solutions and recommends appropriate acquisition and implementation. Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art information technology as it relates to areas of responsibility. Manages budgeting process for Practice Support area of responsibilities. Responsible for assuring that the firm’s attorneys and staff are fully aware of the services offered by Practice Support and trains or manages training on use of those services, including Relativity, as needed. Collaborate with Chief Information and Security Officer and director peers to design, prepare, and maintain Practice Support program and procedures. Supervise and manage the performance of the Practice Support staff. Ensure the firm is using the appropriate tools and methodologies. Oversee the in-house development efforts through the development team. Market the Practice Support department within the firm and to the clients as needed. Maintain a strong working relationship with the Technology support group, assisting with troubleshooting software and supporting Technology in its initiatives. Organize and develop on-going educational program for firm technology users.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in relevant field. Thorough knowledge and experience with current Practice Support and e-discovery technology including Relativity and data processing tools. Experience in the design and implementation of comprehensive Practice Support systems. Strong leadership skills managing a diverse group of Practice Support Consultants. Ability to lead team members across multiple offices. Preferred: JD Degree preferred. Large law firm experience a plus. Experience with data collection, processing and production for litigation and investigation using tools such as Nuix, LAW and Relativity. Experience with trial support using Trial Director or similar software.
