Associate General Counsel – Labor And Employment The candidate will provide legal counsel and assistance to RFP teams at company with respect to labor and employment related questions and certifications; participate in and provide advice on efforts to prepare, implement and refine best-in-class labor and employment-related practices, policies, guidelines, tools, programs and forms that align with company’s employee engagement strategy, values and business goals;Represent and defend company in employment disputes, including attorney letters and administrative charges and complaints, including from the EEOC and the NY Division of Human Rights; Oversee external counsel retained to advise on labor and employment law matters and employment litigation; Identify, evaluate and escalate legal risks affecting company relating to labor and employment law issues; Partner with company’s Compliance, Risk and Audit groups on labor and employment law matters; Keep senior management and other personnel up to date on pertinent legal and regulatory developments, including legal risks;Provide substantive support for the rest of the Legal team as needed, including strategic transactions.Manage a team of legal professionals comprising the Employment Law Team within the Legal Division (being one other employment attorney, an employee benefits/ERISA attorney and a paralegal), including preparing and delivering dashboards, reporting and metrics for the Employment Law Team to best manage legal resources, workflow and legal risk.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. degree. Must be Licensed to practice law in New York (or ability to obtain an in-house counsel license). Should have 7+ years of relevant experience practicing law. Must have ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and prioritize work in a deadline-intensive environment; experience in leading and facilitating change. Experience identifying, evaluating and escalating legal risk issues required.
