Patent Counsel II The candidate will provide legal advice and counsel for (Intellectual Property) IP matters, including patents and licenses, for Global Seeds and US (Crop Science) CS organization, in assigned operational area(s); Participate in the development and implementation of IP strategy for global seeds and US CS in alignment with Associate General Counsel and Head of Patents CS Division; Provide leadership in securing and maintaining meaningful worldwide IP protection for Bayer innovations in global seeds and US CS; Implement strategies for Bayer IP Licensing for global seeds and US CS in close alignment with Associate General Counsel and Head of Patents CS Division; Evaluate and manage legal risk in areas of responsibility including analysis, advice, and status of all legal matters affecting assigned operational area(s); Serve on Business and/or R&D Leadership Teams within assigned operational area(s); Maintain and advance relationships with key external stakeholders; Work on strategic project teams with Commercial, platform and LPC colleagues; Ensure strong LPC processes that comply with Bayer LPC requirements, as well as, local standards, including developing/adopting procedures and best practices for patent preparation and prosecution; Work with outside counsel to ensure Bayer receives high quality services in an economical manner. Should have J.D. degree from accredited law school, licensed to represent and practice in the jurisdiction at issue, and 10 years of legal experience; Demonstrate excellent leadership skills; Ability to work across multiple geographies; Proven business judgment and personal maturity to interact with and counsel business clients; Ability to work collaboratively, cross-functionally, and cross-culturally; Outstanding interpersonal, decision-making and communication (written and verbal) skills. Experience within a corporate environment or private practice; Scientific degree in agricultural/biological/biotech disciplines, IP, transactional, licensing, preparation and prosecution experience; Knowledge and experience in agriculture and biotech, business, antitrust, and trade practice issues; Understanding of Crop Science business.
