Staff Attorney - Self-Represented Litigants Program The candidate will provide legal advice to eligible clients. Will identify the need for publications to assist self-represented litigants for both print and web-publication. Ensure Texas Law Help is accessible and able to be easily understood by the general public. Ensure Texas Law Help is accurate, updated, and free of spelling and grammar errors. Draft and update video, legal information publications, tools, interactive forms, and print forms for Texas Law Help, as needed and at the direction of the Executive Director and Designees. Use new and old technology to develop tools for SRLP clients and the general public to assist with form completion and filing of court documents. Prior experience with computer programming languages or document assembly platforms is highly desired. Coordinate projects between SRLP, projects within firm, and organizations outside of firm. Recruit, train, and supervise law students, volunteers, and interns for live chat on Texas Law Help and development of content for the Texas Law Help website. Perform all job activities, especially project coordination, in a professional and positive manner. Keep track of project deadlines and milestones to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard. Strong time management skills and attention to detail are expected. Provide high quality legal assistance to eligible clients and client organizations. Demonstrate knowledge and expertise of the law and legal system, especially in areas that impact family law. Comply with all regulations, grant requirements, and internal operating and personnel policies. Promptly provide all information needed/requested for firm-reporting. Ensure that all client, project, and computer files are maintained in an orderly manner. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards as a member of the State Bar and stay current with updates and changes to the law. Adhere to the ABA Standards for Civil Legal Services Providers. Maintain the highest level of professionalism when working with other firm staff, other Legal Aid programs, governmental and funding entities, and the public. Embrace and support firm’s overall mission, standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements. Ensure that all appointments and deadlines are calendared and timely executed with sufficient time dedicated for management approval of legal documents. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Associate Director and the SRLP Managing Attorney.Expected to follow firm policy and procedures when conducting intake and assisting callers, and to stay current with all changes to family law. Should have JD degree and licensure by the Supreme Court of Texas. Prior experience and training in outreach and web development is helpful.
