Counsel 4 The candidate will: Work with and advise IT professionals, engineers, data scientists, and privacy and information security professionals on compliance with U.S. federal, state, and international laws and regulations related to cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data, information technology, global server technology, database architecture, and information networks. Provide U.S. and non-U.S. technology subject-matter expertise in the review and negotiation of third-party technology-related contracts. Have a high level of knowledge and working experience in cloud, artificial intelligence, privacy, information security, and intellectual property laws and related industry best practices in these areas. Analyze U.S. and international laws, regulations, and corporate policies and standards related to cloud, artificial intelligence, privacy, and information technology. Have experience in technology-related outsourcing and offshoring, including legal risk assessments and due diligence. Be skilled with gathering information in a fast-paced business environment, understanding business needs and goals, detecting legal issues and obstacles, identifying legal solutions and alternatives, and succinctly and competently counseling and communicating with technology professionals and managers regarding legal risks, solutions, and alternatives.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Active State Bar membership. 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney; or 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 2+ years of legal-related experience in one or a combination of the following areas: risk, compliance, contracts, government, regulatory, financial services, or technology. Desired: Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters. Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues. Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters. Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration. Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team. Significant expertise in legal, regulatory, and compliance issues relating to cloud computing and artificial intelligence, including knowledge of FFIEC IT handbooks and other regulatory risk management guidance related to oversight of third-party technology service providers and consultants, privacy, big data and information security laws. . Prior experience in effective engagement with technology leaders, senior management, risk, compliance and audit professionals, and external regulators.. Prior experience advising technology professionals in the implementation of laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance related to technology. Prior experience providing legal support or representation to clients in the technology industry, addressing issues such as product development, software licensing, software maintenance and support, regulatory compliance, or in the acquisition, deployment, and use of technology, IP, or big data. Ability to evaluate impacts based on changes in laws or regulations. Experience developing and executing appropriate solutions to complex problems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines. Prior in-house experience at a large financial firm or experience at a bank regulatory agency is preferred, but law firm experience also will be given consideration. Must be able to assume responsibility quickly and have the ability to work in a complex environment requiring a high degree of collaboration and across multiple jurisdictions Will also be capable of providing direction, guidance, training and resources to paralegals and/or applicable/relevant support staff Close Date: 02/12/2020
