Litigation Paralegal Duties: Provide operational and staff assistance to assigned attorneys; review and investigate factual matters and claims related to legal cases; summarizes findings and organizes by issue and claim. Assist in the coordination of discovery and subpoena responses, including document review assistance and the development of privilege logs and other documents for attorney review. Maintain files for active litigation matters and assist in the maintenance of litigation summaries on the status of all open matters. Assist in the filing of documents. Perform legal research as requested (Lexis). Draft correspondence related to litigation matters. Ensure that copies of documentation are properly filed and distributed. Responsible for calendaring dates. Create and organize appendices, briefs, and facts. Identify and contact experts who may help in a case. Attend hearings and trials in order to take notes.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate (or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4+ years of litigation paralegal experience. Proficiency in English and Mandarin a must. Knowing Cantonese language is a big plus, but not essential. Strong technology skills (e-filing, electronic discovery, some experience with litigation software a plus). Strong knowledge of Federal and State Rules of Court, court filing procedures, e-filing and service of process. Exhibit excellent communication and listening skills. Ability to work independently and proactively with a forward-thinking mentality. Accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines, multitask and set priorities. Positive attitude and leadership qualities. Must be detail oriented with the ability to work under constant interruptions by telephone and/or visitors. Display cultural sensitivity and adaptability. Preferred working knowledge of Lexis and Abacus programs.
