New York City office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks attorney with 6+ years of experience advising domestic and foreign clients on residential real estate matters. The candidate will work directly with high-net-worth foreign and domestic individuals and their advisors on all aspects of the purchase, sale and leasing of residential real estate. Will counsel high-net-worth foreign and domestic individuals with respect to the purchase, sale and leasing of residential real estate, primarily in the New York City area. Represent clients in complex acquisition and sale matters, including sponsor deals, 1031 and Reverse-1031 exchanges, and matters involving FIRPTA. Draft contracts of sale, leases, net leases, lease amendments, and lease extensions, as well as other legal, tax, and corporate documents, memos, e-mails, and presentations related to the purchase, sale and leasing of New York real estate. Monitor legal risks in real estate documentation and advise clients accordingly. Perform legal research, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of federal and state laws and regulations associated with the firm?s real estate practice. Oversee client matters, ensuring on-time and accurate deliverables as well as the highest level of client service and communication. Build, track and manage matter budget and billable hour allocations, ensuring appropriate levels of resources are being used. Timely responsiveness to clients and brokers. Ensure billable hours are tracked and entered into billing system, and that invoices are generated on a regular basis and sent to clients. Assisting with accounts receivable communications to clients, when appropriate, to ensure overdue bills are paid. Delegate, as appropriate, to Associates, Paralegals and Legal Assistants, and oversee delegated work to ensure on-time error-free delivery of work product. Oversee team members in: Drafting of contracts of sale, contract riders, leases, lease riders, extensions, amendments, closing statements, closing costs estimates, closing binders, transfers, assignments, transactional board consents, deal sheets, loan commitments, corporate documents for domestic and foreign entities, letters, payoff letters, estate planning documents and court forms, and other ancillary documents. Preparing and filing IRS forms, ordering title, and conducting lien searches. Reviewing and performing due diligence on condominium/cooperative purchases, reviewing and markup of title reports and lien searches. Submission of documentation necessary to obtain title clearance. Ensuring that appropriate approvals are in place before real estate transactions are executed. Must have experience directly advising both domestic and international high-net-worth individuals and families in connection with the purchase, sale and leasing of residential real estate in New York (primarily, New York City), as well as have exposure to the tax and estate planning considerations relevant to foreign investors in . real estate. Should have sufficient experience and knowledge in this practice area to operate without the need for direct supervision. Must be Certified by the NY Bar Association. Preferred Languages: Spanish and/or Portuguese. Must preferably have strong experience in real estate law and industry knowledge that includes litigation, lease transactions, property management, purchase, and sale transactions. Should preferably have strong experience in title insurance underwriting, curative, and claims. Strong understanding of 1031/reverse-1031 exchanges and FIRPTA desired. Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and strong information management skills.
