Criminal Law - Prosecution
Assistant Commonwealth Attorney The candidate will be primarily responsible for handling day-to-day prosecution of cases in District Courts and Circuit Court that are not otherwise assigned including trials of a wide variety of misdemeanors and felony cases, preliminary hearings, motions dockets, sentencing dockets, and appeals, as well as serving as "duty CA" and responding to calls/questions from citizens, police officers and defense attorneys. Duties include attending trainings and ride-alongs with police officers and engaging in public activities to connect as active members with the community company serve. Must be capable of: managing a heavy caseload; skilled at legal research and writing; able to work both independently and collaboratively in an office that values civility, initiative, sound judgment and skilled advocacy. Should have Graduation from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Virginia and a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing. Criminal prosecution/defense experience desired.
