Director of Corporate Compliance The candidate will develop, implement and administer company’s compliance initiatives; provide guidance on compliance-related matters; and drive the building, and continuous improvement, of company’s global compliance program. Lead projects to address compliance needs and significantly reduce risks for the company and/or its subsidiaries. Build and maintain policies and procedures to fully implement an effective compliance program. Build and improve procedures to ensure compliance with Consumer Product Safety Commission, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, and voluntary standards, and applicable international product-safety related requirements; respond to potential product safety issues escalated from business units. Conduct periodic risk assessments and drive change to mitigate identified risks and advance overall enterprise-wide compliance. Keep abreast of relevant legislation, standards, regulations and consent decrees; determine effect on the company and its subsidiaries and educate and implement changes in response, as appropriate. Communicate and train on compliance topics and initiatives and build partner relationships to advance understanding and ownership of compliance throughout the company and its subsidiaries. Support business leaders by responding in a timely and responsible manner to day-to-day compliance and regulatory questions (e.g., Customs, International Sales). Maintain Ethics Hotline system which includes reviewing ethics communications, identifying issues and distributing to appropriate corporate areas for investigation and resolution; reviewing investigation findings and formulating responses based on findings; reviewing data, identifying trends and producing quarterly reports, and providing recommendations for areas of improvement. Drive compliance efforts that require involvement of people throughout the organization with the potential of significant consequences for the company.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. State, with 8-10 years of relevant experience including 3-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience, or equivalent. Experience working in both law firm and in-house environment required. Ability to think critically, understand complex material, analyze problems and data, and develop and implement practical solutions. Ability to learn new areas quickly and have attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills essential.
