Associate Attorney The candidate will be preparing drafts of pleadings, court orders, and other documents. Will be assisting in the development of discovery plans on cases and drafting Interrogatories, Request for Production, Requests for Admission, Subpoenas, etc. to obtain necessary case information. Conducting legal research and drafting briefs and legal memoranda as needed. Reviewing incoming case-related documents and preparing summaries for review by the partners and other support staff. Documents to be reviewed include financial records, tax returns, business documents, healthcare and educational records, etc. Helping prepare for hearings and depositions by researching relevant issues, developing outlines of questions for witnesses, and preparing associated documents and exhibits. Working closely with our support staff and attorneys to ensure that all necessary information is obtained, prepared, reviewed, and organized for court appearances (motion hearings, trials, etc.). Ensuring all necessary affidavits, financial exhibits, evidence/exhibits, etc. are prepared with specificity, organized in such a way to make a compelling presentation to the court, and summarized for each partner’s easy review in preparation for hearings. Should have 1 - 3 years of experience to handle cases in various practice areas in both North Carolina and South Carolina. JD degree from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney is needed. Active member in good standing with the SC Bar and NC Bar OR good standing with the SC Bar with NC Bar admission pending is essential. Completion of 403s for practice in SC is needed. Must be willing to travel to handle cases in various counties in both SC and NC is essential. Strong legal research, writing, speaking and analytical skills are needed. Knowledge of and interest in the firm’s current practice areas are needed. Knowledge of and/or interest in and/or experience handling cases in a practice area that the firm does not yet have as a practice area is needed. Must have experience using Internet, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Clio, etc. Bilingual language is needed. Litigation experience is needed.
