Paralegal/Legal Advocate RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and file documents with federal, state, and immigration courts in accordance with the relevant rules; Conduct intakes and interviews, by phone and in person; Establish, organize, and maintain files; Search for and retrieve public and private records such as birth certificates or criminal histories; Maintain document control, tracking, and tracing; review case files; Provide support to impact litigation unit staff attorneys; Review and edit documents for accuracy and completeness; Under the supervision of attorneys, prepare immigration forms, declarations, and supporting documents; Perform administrative tasks related to grant reporting and other requirements; Participate in outreach, community education, and development efforts; and Other tasks as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated commitment to advancing and defending the rights of immigrants; Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and present information in a clear and concise manner; Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently; Proficiency in use of web‐based software and MS Word; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat preferred; Commitment to working in a diverse work environment; Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred; and Previous experience as paralegal preferred.
