IP Attorney
RESPONSIBILITIES: Help develop, curate, and enforce extensive and growing worldwide IP portfolio. Work with our in-house attorneys and paralegals as well as with outside counsel to identify protectable innovations and secure strategic patent assets. Manage patent enforcement, transaction, and licensing matters. Provide technical and legal expertise enterprise-wide to innovators. Drive the strategic protection and monetization of innovative technologies and help to deliver experiences that Matter to the customers. Work with the innovators to identify strategically important innovations. Take a leading role in invention disclosure meetings and invention harvesting sessions. Develop and review evidence of use of Avaya technologies by third-parties. Manage patent licensing, divestiture, and acquisition matters. Conduct patent landscape and portfolio analyses. Manage Avaya’s patent renewal budget and renewal decision process. Drive continuous quality improvement of Avaya’s patent portfolio.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATION: Must have a J.D. degree or equivalent and membership in good standing of the bar of at least one jurisdiction. Registration to practice before the USPTO is preferred. Must have 7 - 10 years of experience. Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Must have a strong background in patent portfolio management, including out-bound licensing and enforcement; An understanding of licensing-focused patent prosecution and portfolio development. Knowledge of AI, machine learning, digital ledger, natural language processing, IoT, and cloud technologies preferred.
