Assistant General Counsel - Insurance Coverage Litigation The candidate will manage a litigation docket consisting of coverage litigation matters involving casualty policies issued to commercial insureds. Will manage and partner with outside counsel to ensure high-quality written work product is filed on behalf of the firm member insurance companies. Make strategic decisions with a focus on consistency and the big picture. Proactively develop case resolution plans and recommendations. Evaluate and make smart, sensible recommendations regarding the filing of potential coverage litigation on behalf of the firm member insurance companies. Collaborate with our business partners in the claims organization on strategic and financial decisions. Travel within the fifty states or internationally for mediations, trials, and oral arguments. Report to an Associate General Counsel, who has close oversight of the matters handled on team.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably be Attorney with 6+ years of major law firm experience. Must have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials. Should be admitted to practice in one state. Litigation and insurance coverage experience is required. In-house experience useful. Superior oral and written communication skill is essential. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
