ProfileLegal Assistant - Tax Unit Duties: The candidate will work in the Real Estate Tax / Sheriff Sale collect unit of the Law Department assisting in the preparation of Sheriff Sale petitions and other duties related to the collection of delinquent Real Estate taxes. Will meet with taxpayers on-a-daily basis. Enter taxpayers into agreements for delinquent real estate taxes. Review title reports in advance of the filing of the sheriff sale petition. Assist with preparing cases for the weekly Rule Hearings. Prepare and E-File various Court documents related to the sheriff sale process. Reviews and interprets real estate accounts and payment histories when needed. Work with the attorneys in the unit on various projects.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should preferably have Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate or equivalent and 3+ years’ experience in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm or an in-house legal department. Excellent written and oral communication is essential. Excellent organizational skill is essential. Excellent time management skill is essential. Experience with Word and Excel is essential.
