ProfileStaff Attorney The candidate will perform independent legal and housing development related work under the supervision and direction of the General Counsel. Work closely with underwriters, architects, accountants, legal staff and other professionals to facilitate the production of rental housing. Review and draft legal documents including, but not limited to, real estate documents and memoranda. Review and comment on due diligence items including, but not limited to, land surveys, title insurance policies and organizational documents. Coordinate and oversee complex multi-family loan closings on behalf of company. Perform legal research, including but not limited to researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, regulations, recorded judicial or regulatory decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes. Assist General Counsel in all legal matters involving or affecting company as may be requested from time to time, including, but not limited to, preparation of memoranda generated to advise General Counsel on questions regarding single and multi-family lending, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, HUD regulations - including environmental compliance, state and federal fair housing requirements, general contract matters, and other Missouri State law issues.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and either hold a license to practice in the State of Missouri or be able to qualify for limited license to practice in Missouri pursuant to Missouri Supreme Court Rule 8.105. Prefer either 3 years of experience in the affordable housing practice area or 5 years experience in a real estate practice, though may consider applicants not meeting either of these criteria on a case by case basis.
