Assistant General Counsel The candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of complex legal projects applying subject matter knowledge and expertise. Should have JD degree or equivalent degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. Must have 1-2 years of legal work experience with a law firm or as in-house legal department preferably performing legal services for hospitals, health systems, health care delivery organizations, or integrated delivery systems. Should have experience navigating complex corporate healthcare organizations and academic medical centers. Should have admission to the State Bar of Virginia or eligibility under the provisions under the state bar of Virginia, professional license in good standing. Should preferably have experience with: labor, employment and human resource matters, including representing the organization in administrative proceedings, reviewing systems and protocols, developing policies and procedures, and providing training to the Human Resources team and entire organization; assisting with managing a wide variety of litigation matters, either by serving as the primary counsel and/or overseeing outside counsel (e.g., actions involving general/professional liability, breach of contract, collections, evictions, etc); and collaborating with various departments to review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and transactions that satisfy the organization's business objectives.
