Domestic Violence/Family Law Staff Attorney The candidate will represent survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse in domestic violence restraining order, civil harassment order, and family law cases. Will provide legal advice and counsel/unbundled services including paperwork preparation and case management, and/or limited or full scope representation for clients. Conduct in-depth legal screening for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at various locations in Alameda County. Provide clients with legal advocacy in academic settings, including Title IX proceedings. Maintain accurate client files and regularly update data on client contacts, case information, court hearings, and court orders obtained. Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled team meetings. Assist with ongoing supervision, development, and training of legal intake workers, law students and other legal department volunteers. Represent FVLC in the Legal and Alameda County community, participating in collaborative team meetings, trainings, and outreach as required. Other duties as assigned. Should be licensed to practice law in California and in good standing. Should have 1-2 years of experience in domestic violence and/or family law, including courtroom experience. 1-2 years of experience working with domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors is required. Should have excellent oral and written communications skills. Bilingual, Spanish preferred. Knowledge and awareness of local, regional, and national issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault is a plus. California domestic violence counselor certification (40-hour training) and/or rape crisis counselor training (60-hour training) is preferred. Knowledge of Alameda County service providers is a plus.
