Paralegal, Trademark and Intellectual Property The candidate will assist in supporting the in-house domestic and international trademark and copyright portfolio. Will perform routine matter management, docketing, filing, information gathering and research as needed and provide legal support for special projects within the IP field. Interface primarily with the senior paralegals and attorneys within the IP group and occasionally with cross-functional partners in support of operational and strategic business matters. Manage the matter management function within Ascent for the IP group. Maintain aspects of the intellectual property docket. Create and maintain charts, tables, spreadsheets and documents in support of various IP functions. Assist in preparing and filing trademark applications, Statements of Use, Extensions of Time, Renewals, Section 8 and 15 Affidavits, assignments and other related documents. Assist in preparing and filing copyright and patent applications. Gather applicable evidence and other related materials in support of prosecution, conflict matters, and/or litigation. Draft and distribute brand trademark reports. Assist in monitoring trademark watch notices and all related reporting and enforcement efforts. Support the IP team in educating internal brand and cross-functional partners on IP matters and generally as needed. Should have Bachelorâ€™s degree with a preferred focus in Business. Paralegal certification required. Should have 2-4 years of paralegal experience in the field of trademarks with a law firm and/or in-house counsel. Familiarity with trademark practices and United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) procedures is preferred. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and tracking skills with the ability to work independently and conscientiously is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers is essential. Strong PC skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with Access would be beneficial.
