Privacy Counsel The candidate will Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and protection laws and advising the impact of the same on firm’s business. Will assist product lawyers in evaluating impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features. Support members of the legal, business, and policy teams on privacy and security-related legal matters, including in areas related to partnerships, acquisitions, integrations, and other business development opportunities. Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, legal developments and industry proposals involving privacy and security across firm services and companies. Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with stakeholders across firm business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments. Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives. Participate in the development and management of firm (and its affiliates') terms and policies (especially including the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and the Data Policy). Supporting data and privacy incident response. Manage and participate in internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 3+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or prior in-house experience with internet or technology companies (litigation, regulatory, product counseling or operational privacy experience will be considered). Should have JD degree and membership in one US State Bar. Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines is required. Business judgment and client counseling experience is needed. Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment as a manager and individual contributor is must. Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media and Internet companies is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in privacy and data issues arising in one or more privacy areas, such as HR, security, advertising, B2B products, Internet of Things, or privacy program implementation/management is a plus.
