Bilingual Legal Assistant Duties: Meeting with clients, writing motions, complaints, answers, and trial prep, primarily in the areas of Domestic Relations, Juvenile, Criminal and Immigration. Calendar all hearings, meetings, reminders, deadlines, etc. Follow up with clients to confirm presence at hearings, providing needed documents. Follow up with courts to confirm interpreter and confirm all necessary documents have been filed. Physical/Electronic File organization. Create sub-files. Scan documents/material/correspondence. Correctly name files. Place document in correct sub-file. Label and organize physical documents. Create binders as needed. Client Communication - Email/phone/meetings. Service of Pleadings - Fax/email/mail filings copying all counsel. Review case material for inconsistencies. Calculate Child Support, etc.. Maintain â€œto doâ€ list, follow up relentlessly. Copy litigation staff on all client/court/OC communications. Help prepare files for hearings. Help maintain case status list.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2-4 year paralegal certificate or degree or 2+ years work experience as a paralegal/legal assistant; excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, responsible and confidential. Qualifications: Great work ethic. Team oriented. Bilingual. Eager to learn. Positive Attitude - Wants to be here!! - Polite. Willing to follow instructions. Organized. Energetic. Good with numbers. Computer literate - Microsoft office. Flexibility - Needs to be willing to help with immigration, etc. if needed. Proficient in typing.
