Senior Paralegal The candidate under general supervision, within the limitations of Association policy and in coordination with applicable Labor Relations Counsel (LRC), handles a variety of contract administration and dispute resolution matters from fielding pilot inquiries about a possible contract dispute to processing grievances to the System Board of Adjustment through all stages in the dispute resolution process. Takes an active role working with Master Executive Council (MEC) officers, representatives, and committee volunteers in analyzing a disputeâ€™s merits, developing a work plan, and managing the case through final resolution. Throughout negotiations and in different capacities, s/he actively participates in the various phases of collective bargaining. Also provides support and assistance in the preparation and processing of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforcement cases at all stages, up to and including appeals and filing appeal briefs. Individual responsibility and administrative ability are both required to ensure that tasks are carried out as assigned and important deadlines are met.
Qualification and Experience
A High school diploma required; bachelorâ€™s degree in relevant area, e.g., English, Paralegal Studies, Political Science, Pre-Law, or related field, from an accredited college or university preferred; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience. Should have 5+ years of paralegal experience required, preferably from a law firm or government agency, 10+ years preferred. Paralegal Certificate strongly preferred. Labor law experience strongly preferred. Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal staff, external contacts, and pilots. Understanding of pilot contract, corporate practices, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) preferred. Knowledge of pilot scheduling and work rules preferred. Should have excellent organizational skills. Software: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; SharePoint preferred.
