Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney, Workers Compensation
The candidate will analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. Prepare petitions, objections, answers, correspondence to AMEs/QMEs, discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy. Provide effective, substantive and timely reporting, communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims on legal and factual issues. Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures. Provide prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, and arbitrations. Research, draft, file and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients. Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain a high level of professional expertise.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have JD from an accredited law school and a license to practice in California. Should have 3+ years of legal practice experience handling Workers' Compensation defense files. Trial experience is strongly preferred. Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude. Excellent legal research and writing skills. Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) Lexis Nexis experience is a plus. Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required. Should have 7+ years of legal practice experience handling Workers’ Compensation defense files.
