Collections Paralegal Duties: Provide professional collections support to the facilities to ensure successful resolution of accounts placed to obtain maximum reimbursement to facilities. Train and educate facilities on best internal collection practices. Draft demands to debtors to pay. Negotiate settlements, set-up and monitor payment plans. Working under the supervision and direction of a licensed attorney. Prepare collection accounts for suit. Prepare defaults, default packages, court judgments. Prepare abstracts of judgment, judgment liens and releases. Prepare writs of execution, bank levies, wage levies. Prepare acknowledgement of satisfaction of judgments. Perform skip traces and asset, judgment, lien bankruptcy searches. Investigate public records for assets, including real estate records and prior judgments. Communicate and correspond with debtors for account resolution. Correspond with facilities to gather background information for collection purposes. Correspond with clients, counsel, others on factual matters for collection purposes. Inform facilities periodically of case/matter status. Organize and maintain collection files. Assist facilities with small claims court paperwork and process. Review facility collection referral, gather and organize factual data for collection purposes.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Paralegal Certificate from an accredited paralegal program. 5+ years' experience as a collections paralegal with litigation experience. Ability to collaborate with others and work as a team member. Knowledge of all aspects of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Texas Debt Collection Practices Act. Knowledge of rules of civil procedure and local rules of court as it pertains to collection matters. Familiarity with Judicial Council forms and procedures for filing as it pertains to collection matters. Knowledge of computerized information retrieval systems and research systems, including court websites. Knowledge of probate and filing claims against estates. Ability to write clearly and concisely.
